This region is characterized by the perfect combination of beach, fun and beautiful nature.
The trip is only a couple of hours from San José. This paradise has popular spots for surfing and sports fishing. It also has beautiful tropical forests rich in wildlife islands completely covered in vegetation. There are fishing towns and long soft sand beaches for those who wish to rest.
In this region you will find many lodging possibilities (with some of the best hotels of Costa Rica) and a variety of food dishes too.
You will able to admire the wide range of wildlife. For example, the Carara Biological Reserve lodges one of the greatest populations of scarlet macaws. These beautiful birds can be observed flying over the trail paths of the park at down or dusk. A few minutes away, the delta of the Tárcoles River has become an obligatory stop to watch enormous crocodiles that rest along the riverbanks.

The most popular beaches of the area are: Matapalo, Manuel Antonio, Esterillos, Jacó, Hermosa, Herradura, Punta Leona, Tambor, Montezuma, Malpaís, among others.
Puntarenas is the largest port city of the Central Pacific. It offers all sorts of attractions. It is a narrow strip of land in the Gulf of Nicoya. It is also an important port for large ships, cruises and yachts.
